Lake Wellington

September 2023

Lake Wellington is one of those spots that feels remote without actually being that far from home.

The drive in gets rough toward the end — slow, bumpy, and just annoying enough to make you wonder if you missed a turn. But once you arrive, it all makes sense. We grabbed a campsite right on the lake, with trails nearby and no real reason to go anywhere once we were set up.

The dogs went straight into the water while we got camp dialed. Tent up. Fire going. Hammocks and paddle boards out. Everything moved at an easy pace.

There was no agenda for the weekend. We walked the trails, paddled on the lake, and spent most of our time sitting around doing nothing in particular. The kind of quiet that doesn’t feel empty — it feels earned.

It was a short trip, but exactly what we needed. A reset from the city, a reminder that sometimes the best move is just to slow down and let the days unfold.
