Roadtrip Denver to Calgary

What started as a quick work trip turned into a road trip north from Denver to Calgary — with all three dogs along for the ride. We don’t like leaving them behind, and trips always feel better when they’re part of it.
We stopped first in Whitefish, Montana, camping near the lake. After hours in the car, everyone needed to move. The dogs hit the water, we followed, and just like that the stress of the drive disappeared.
An early start took us through Glacier National Park on Going-to-the-Sun Road, where waterfalls, peaks, and open views made every mile worth it. Calgary became our base for exploring Banff, where dog-friendly trails meant more time outside together. A long walk along Bow Lake led us to a massive waterfall — one of those simple efforts with a big payoff.
On the way home, we drove through Yellowstone and into Wyoming, spotting wildlife and wide-open valleys before stopping in Cody for the night. The dogs had space to run, and by then we were all feeling the miles in the best way.
A lot of road, a lot of fresh air, and another reminder that the best trips don’t have to be complicated — just time outside, moving, with the dogs beside you.
